Ballroom STEP 1: Steps & Timing

STEP 1 classes focus on learning the steps and timing of a dance style without a partner. Dancing without a partner facilitates mastery of the steps, increases balance, and improves posture while building self-confidence. Partners are welcome but will dance on their own.

Ballroom STEP 2: Partner Dancing

STEP 2 classes focus on learning the steps and timing of a dance style with a partner. In addition to learning steps, couples will learn correct frame, lead and follow techniques, and modifications to accommodate physical needs such as height difference and joint limitations.

Gentle Tai Chi - Qigong
Trudy Sherman Tai Chi
Gentle Tai Chi-Qigong consists of gentle Qigong (Chee gung) stretches and Tai Chi (Tie chee) movements that help improve circulation and release stress. It was developed specifically for Parkinson's patients. Balance aids such as the back of a chair or a walker can be used, if needed. Gentle Tai Chi can also be done sitting.

Israeli Folk Dance Beginner- Intermediate

This is an Israeli Folk Dance group practice. It is for:
* Newcomers
* Those who danced once upon a time and want to get re-introduced to Israeli dancing
* Those who prefer the simpler Israeli dances (Beginner / Pioneer / Nostalgic)
Each dance starts with instruction or review of the dance. Steps are usually called out while dancing. Call the studio for more information.

Israeli Folk Dance Intermediate-Advanced

Israeli Folk Dance: open dancing. The dances are intermediate to complex.
Anyone is welcome who has the ability to ‘follow’ a dance, or an interest in attempting to follow, or simply wants to enjoy Israeli music. Dances on occasion are taught/reviewed. Call the studio for more information.
Various experienced dancers lead different dances.

Kids Math & Science Hands-On Workshops
Jennifer Sherman & Trudy Sherman
These hands-on math and science workshops are offered weekly. Each workshop is 50 minutes long. Students can take one or both workshops. Fees are charged per workshop.
Math workshops use the data from the science workshops to practice math skills. When available, students use their own science results, otherwise they use data provided by the instructor. In the science workshops the 3-step Scientific Method of: Hypothesis, Test, Actual is followed.
Advance registration is required to ensure adequate materials are available.
Payment is required prior to the start of class.

Modern Line Dance - No Turns
Trudy Sherman Line Dance
Line dances consist of a short sequence of steps that are repeated throughout the song. In this class the steps are choreographed so that there are no turns and dancers remain facing the front wall. Dances are danced to contemporary music. This class is for all ages and abilities.

Performance Dance Team
Mona Brandt Ballroom
This is a dance team for all ages & levels. Men & ladies are welcome. No partner is necessary. We are starting a new routine for the 2023 Dance year. We will perform in shows and showcases, and also at the Arizona Dance Classic in August. We will teach you the steps you need to know. The routine will consist of several parts that will be danced to a medley featuring "The Jersey Boys" Frankie Valli tunes. Dances will include Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Night Club & Line Dance. We will do individual and some partner dancing. You do not need to learn all of the parts of the dance or perform at all of the performances.

Sound Meditation with Qigong

This class focuses on a combination of guided and solo meditation, intertwined with music from singing bowls and other instruments. It incorporate Qigong (chee-gung) by engaging the body in gentle mindful stretches. Beginner friendly. No previous experience necessary!

Tech Workshops for Teens
Kevin & Trudy Sherman
These hands-on learning workshops cover a variety of technology topics from electronics to robotics. Math and science concepts are utilized to create or investigate some aspect of technology. Examples include speakers, electric motor, encoding, programming, encoding, computer guts, etc.
