Crane Dance - Easy Tai Chi

Saturday 9 am

Crane Dancing Qigong was developed by Tori Fiore in 2007. It is an easy form (sequence) of tai chi that combines ancient Qigong movements with the energy of dance. This mindful and meditative form incorporates a variety of  Crane moves with other traditional qigong and tai chi moves. In Easy Crane Dance, the original Crane Dance sequence is modified for those with balance issues. Forward and backward steps are replaced with stationary rocking moves. Movements that are done standing on one leg are modified to be done using both legs.

Easy Crane Dance can be done with the assistance of a chair for balance or sitting if needed.

Easy Tai Chi

Friday 1 - 2 pm

"BEGINNER" This is a stationary form of tai chi developed specifically for those with balance issues. It incorporates breathing with gentle no impact movement to promote relaxation, improve circulation and joint mobility, increase breathing capacity, stimulate neural pathways in the brain, strengthen core muscles, and build muscle stamina. The simple repetitive tai chi movements improve leg, arm, and core strength while releasing stress. This class is great for those with Parkinson's or other balance issues and those that of had joint surgery or replacement.  The Easy Tai Chi moves can be done sitting in a chair if needed.

Step 2: Social Ballroom for Beginners

Monday 8-9 pm

"INTERMEDIATE/SOCIAL" Have you been dancing socially for a while? Have you already taken one or more of our classes for beginners or social dancers? If you are ready to go to the next level, these classes are for you. A different dance style is taught each month. In every class at least one new step is taught from the beginning and then incorporated into a sequence. The sequence consists of both basic and intermediate steps that were taught in the beginner classes. Since each class focuses on its own sequence, dancers can come to as many or few of the classes each month as they like. Bringing a partner to dance with is recommended but not required.

Thursday 7:30-8:30 pm

"BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE" In this class you will learn the foundations for being confident on the floor when dancing West Coast Swing. Even though the short sequences taught each week are often at the intermediate level, each step is taught from the beginning, assuming no prior West Coast knowledge. The basic steps of sugar push, right and left side passes, and whips are taught and reviewed regularly as part of learning the sequence being presented each week. Variations on the basics are taught to add dimension while strengthening the foundational skills. This class is good for beginners as well as seasoned West Coast dancers.
