Capoeira

Tuesday 7:00-8:00 pm

"ALL LEVELS" Capoeira  is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance,  acrobatics, and music. It was developed in Brazil at the beginning of the 16th century. It is definitely a whole body workout.

Country Couples Dance

Thursday 7:00-8:00 pm

"BEGINNER/SOCIAL" These monthly series of 4-week classes are for couples that would like to learn country dances that they can use on the dance floor when out socially: parties, weddings, cruises, date nights, etc. Couples will learn to dance with each other with attention paid to footwork, timing, and frame. Learning to do just a few steps well is a great way to get out on the floor and have fun dancing.

Couples Ballroom for Beginners - Fun & Easy

Monday 7-8 pm

"BEGINNER/SOCIAL" These monthly series of 4-week classes are for couples that would like to learn a fun repeatable sequence of 6-8 ballroom dance steps that they can use on the dance floor when out socially: parties, weddings, cruises, date nights, etc. Each month a different style of ballroom is taught. Dance steps are taught from the foundation up so no prior knowledge of the dance style is needed. Learning to do just a few steps well with your favorite dancing partner is a great way to get out on the floor and have fun dancing.

Couples Ballroom for Beginners - Step 2

Monday 8-9 pm - Starts September 9

BEGINNER/SOCIAL

Have you already taken the Couples Ballroom Series? Have you taken other ballroom classes and would like to refresh and renew what you know? Here is a great way to keep your dance knowledge fresh. In this class you get a review of the basics for the dance style and then learn a short sequence of steps to add to your dance repertoire. Each week a  different style is reviewed. Reviews for each style repeat every 5-6 weeks. You can take Step 2 for a style over and over just to keep your ballroom moves fresh.

Easy Tai Chi

Friday 1 - 2 pm

"BEGINNER" This is a stationary form of tai chi developed specifically for those with balance issues. It incorporates breathing with gentle no impact movement to promote relaxation, improve circulation and joint mobility, increase breathing capacity, stimulate neural pathways in the brain, strengthen core muscles, and build muscle stamina. The simple repetitive tai chi movements improve leg, arm, and core strength while releasing stress. This class is great for those with Parkinson's or other balance issues and those that of had joint surgery or replacement.  The Easy Tai Chi moves can be done sitting in a chair if needed.

Easy Tai Chi Form

Tuesday 1 - 2 pm

"BEGINNER" This is a slightly more rigorous style of Easy Tai Chi.  Many simple individual moves from Easy Tai Chi are combined together in a continuous fluid sequence that is stationary. Easy Tai chi Form provides all the benefits of Easy Tai Chi with the additional health benefits that come from memorization, fluidity of motion, transition from move to move, extended stamina, and correctness of arm and body positions.

First Friday Lessons and Social with Mona

7:30-10:00 pm, First Friday of the month

"BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE" Two 45 minute dance lessons followed by an hour of open dance. DIfferent styles taught each month. Dance styles include ballroom, west coast swing, and country.

Instructor: Mona Brandt (occasional guest instructors)

$10 for both lessons and dance

Indian Contemporary Dance

Saturday 3-4 pm, Starts in January

Social Ballroom for Beginners

Wednesday 7-8 pm

"BEGINNER" These ballroom classes are for those getting started in dancing and those that enjoy dance socially (rather than competitively). A variety of steps are taught. Each step is taught from the foundation up so no prior knowledge of the dance style is needed. Classes are structured as a 4 week series with each series focusing on two dance styles. Students will learn dance posture, foot position, dance rhythm, 4-8 steps, and will practice lead-follow connections. Styles taught are selected from waltz, foxtrot, tango, cha cha, rumba, and swing. No partner needed.

WCS (West Coast Swing) for Beginners

Thursday 7:30-8:30 pm

"BEGINNER" In this class you will learn the foundations for being confident on the floor when dancing West Coast Swing. The basic steps of sugar push, right and left side passes, and whips are taught and reviewed regularly as a foundation. Variations on the basics are taught to add dimension while strengthening the foundational skills. This class is good for beginners as well as seasoned West Coast dancers.
